Couture Du Jour

Munch won’t allow the snowstorm that is currently laying wreckage on the Northeast tear him down. It’s New York Fashion Week, so this stylish sausage is slaying the runways left and right, making all the models jealous in his plaid scarf. WORK THAT LOOK.

Snow Thank You.

If you live in the northeast you are probably asking yourself “is it too late in the day to eat that whole bag of popcorn?”.  No wait, sorry that’s just me.

You’re ACTUALLY most likely dropping to your knees, cursing the sky and asking how much more wintery winter nonsense we must endure.  Don’t even think of inserting some ‘Game of Thrones’ joke at point, because winter isn’t coming- IT’S HERE AND IT’S NEVER LEAVING.  EVER.

This morning I watched as several people around me fell into what seemed like 7 foot deep puddles, also known as sludge lakes of DOOM.  Small mountains of poo snow divided the 5th Avenue bus lane from the rest of the street.  I essentially hiked a filthy version of the Himalayas to get to the office today.

But just when you think you can’t take it anymore, right before you purchase that one way ticket to anywhere with a temperature above 40 degrees…take a look around and try to appreciate the small, magical areas where the snow doesn’t look like it’s been combined with expired beef stew.  I discovered a little nugget of Narnia near my apartment (this photo was taken prior to this ice storm madness).  AND I’LL TAKE IT.  I hope it eases your mind a bit as well.

Now excuse me, I must go watch figure skating videos on Youtube so I can learn how to skate my way home tonight.  G’day.

NARNIA

Well That’s Not Normal

Today I went for my yearly eye exam, so I am currently poor and blind (blind for the next two hours, poor forever). I tried to take a funny photo of my gigantic dilated pupils. Instead, I ended up with the perfect movie poster for the next lady-vampire film.

My larger than life pupils, combined with my scary pale face/camera flash produced this horrific photo. Please note, I have not photoshopped/edited this photo AT ALL.

Jack O Lantern Spectacular: Taking Halloween to the Next Level

Last weekend I trekked up to Rhode Island to celebrate October in a serious way: frolicking among over FIVE THOUSAND carved creations at the Jack O Lantern Spectacular, held at the Roger Williams Zoo.

The park that the zoo is located in is stunning in itself.

But let’s get to the good stuff- imagine the time and skill that went into making these amazing jack o lanterns, and the work it took to create the magical atmosphere of this spooky wonderland. Enjoy this visual feast!

Halloween: Some Risky Business

Let me begin by saying that Halloween is the greatest.  I absolutely love it.  There is nothing better than chilly weather, dressing up in a ridiculous costume (with a drink in hand to help you get into character), eating mountains of candy, jumping in leaves, carving pumpkins, eating pumpkin seeds…I could go on and on.

BUT!  Regardless of the fact that I am 27 years old, I have to say that at least once or twice during this spooky season, I consistently manage to legitimately scare myself.  Whether it’s diving right into a graphic zombie movie on AMC or reading a book on New England ghosts, my enthusiasm for all things eerie becomes too great and I induce my own nightmares.

This year, my brother has done the job for me.  He took this video of himself and sent it on our family text thread.  Enjoy…or beware?  Your call.

A Day at the Vineyard- Wine Not?

Nothing compares to a beautiful fall afternoon in New England, and I was lucky enough to have just that this past Saturday at Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford, CT.

Good wine, great food and the best company made for the perfect day!

Warning: the content you are about to view may cause severe hunger and food envy.

Now check out this spread!

I was lucky enough to enjoy this feast with some super fab ladies.

The mama’s toasted to an afternoon of fun.

The three daughters toasted to the fact that we all finally grew up and don’t look like boys anymore! Oh, adolescence.
